In fact ...My oldest boy (ASD) sang before he spoke. In fact not many people besides me could understand a word he said til he was about 4 years old, but they could recognise the songs he sang. HIs first recognisable song was Happy Birthday, when he was about 14 months. He is now 13, going into year 8, and topped his class in 4 subjects last year!! It's great that Derek has something soo important to soo many people like music because to me things like that connect him to "normal society". It was amazing and breath taking when I first heard Jeremiah singing also... He, though, happens to love Mickey Mouse, the theme song to Chuggington, and the Thomas song "Accidents Happen"Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01163162776164523761noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5186774916932689935.post-11782240699130845562013-01-03T18:30:07.906-08:002013-01-03T18:30:07.906-08:00Derek is so beautiful and I loved his shower song!...Derek is so beautiful and I loved his shower song! Music has brought so much joy and focus into my life and it thrills me to see your son exploring and savoring that joy. <br /><br />Composer Leonard Bernstein used to say that music is the only truly international language. Derek may not speak for himself in the conventional ways the world understands, but through his music he is speaking loud and clear and the message is unmistakeable: <br /><br />"I too am not a bit tamed, I too am untranslatable, I sound my barbaric YAWP over the roofs of the world." - Walt WhitmanAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
